Featuring The PDA-I
Check Out The Handheld's Attributes
There
are a wide range of PDAs (personal digital assistants) available
today. Read through the attributes to learn more about the
features and hardware that PDAs exhibit.
Information
can be entered and manipulated in a handheld/PDA in a number
of ways. There's the keyboard which varies and is model
dependent. Or a touch screen/stylus pen that can be used
in conjunction with a touch sensitive screen to select icons
on screen and input data. Handwriting recognition is used
in conjunction with a stylus, and special handwriting recognition
software allows for handwriting to be converted into text.
Handhelds/PDAs
store their images electronically, like the files on a hard
drive of a computer. The memory shipped with the unit is
measured in megabytes (MB). More storage space means that
the unit can store more information and run more applications.
Keep in mind that most handhelds/PDAs come with expansion
capability which allows you to add memory to the module.
Ensure the model you buy has at least 4 MB.
A modem
gives the handheld/PDA the ability to send and receive information.
A wireless modem allows you to send and receive information
from any location at any time. This feature can drastically
increase the functionality of your PDA/Handheld, but the
wireless service can be costly.
The
overall weight, dimensions and style of the handheld/PDA
ranges from the Palm Size-the smallest and lightest of the
handheld/PDA products. These units are under 16 cubic inches,
typically weigh less than 10 ounces, and tend to be more
square shaped than rectangular.
