I am also thankful to you for your encouraging response to IT Harmony, the monthly e-Newsletter of IT Committee. We have been exchanging knowledge on different subjects through our effective interaction – be it the changing IT Scenario & Emerging Opportunities for the Chartered Accountants, IT & Fiscal Law Challenges & Opportunities or Knowledge Management and IT & Audit Standards so on.
Information Technology has become so integral with the business operations that any change or development makes a world of difference to the end users. A regular update on the happenings, I am sure, will have a phenomenal impact to the readers of IT Harmony, especially for the IS Auditors who are required to keep abreast with the changing environments.
The current IT Harmony issue deals extensively with deployment of Internet/ Intranet and Extranet increasingly by organizations to derive varied advantages. As you are all aware, the organisations are growing in multitudes – both horizontally and vertically and communication needs to flow continuously without any break. Intranet Portals are designed to make the people component of an organisation as productive and successful as possible. In addition, organisations are distributing authority, responsibility and decision-making to key employees and empowering individuals, as well as collaborative work groups, to make key decisions, conduct daily activities and create business value and results. These are made very effective with the help of intranet and extranet facilities.
I am sure you would find the subject really interesting and educative since each and every one of us is closely linked with the above facilities in our day-to-day life as a part of some organisation or other. Hope you would agree that e-mails, a part of the intranet services, form the most inherent aspect of our business life.
Happy reading
With warm regards
Harinderjit Singh
Chairman, IT Committee
